About us

Supporting thousands of older Australians to live life their way

Umps started with an idea to support our founder’s grandpa. Today we support older adults in every state and territory around the country.

Our story

Why we’re called Umps

I’m Adam, one of the founders and CEO of Umps. Today, Umps supports thousands of older adults in every state and territory around the country. But it didn’t start there. It started with an idea to support my grandpa.

In 2017, he was hospitalised after a fall. Thankfully, there were no major injuries, but when he returned home we were told that he should consider moving into permanent aged care. At 90 years old, my grandpa was determined to stay in the home he’d lived in for over 60 years. And we were just as determined to help him do so.

We soon discovered that existing personal alarms weren’t suitable for him. They were bulky, heavy, and made him feel vulnerable. This drove us to create something better. We wanted a solution that would work for him and for other older adults who value their independence.

We call my grandpa “Umps”. Our products are inspired by him, and by naming our company after him we pay tribute to those that we aim to serve.

How we work

Our core values

  • Own the outcome

For every alert activated, we take responsibility and deliver care fast. No excuses, just results.

  • People first

We design with older adults, not for them. Every product decision starts with real lives, independence and dignity.

  • Grow every day

We listen, learn, and iterate. Better care comes from never standing still; every day is a chance to improve.

  • Build the future

We’re shifting aged care from reactive to proactive. The tools we build today will redefine how we age tomorrow.

Our people

Good products can only be realised when those building the product work in collaboration with those using it. That’s why we’re proudly Australian owned, with all of our design, development and customer support delivered locally.
